Devo guitarist Bob Casale died suddenly Monday from health complications that led to heart failure, his brother announced Tuesday. He was 61.
“As an original member of Devo, Bob Casale was there in the trenches with me from the beginning,” his brother, Gerald, a Devo vocalist, told TMZ. “He was my level-headed brother, a solid performer, and talented audio engineer, always giving more than he got.”
Devo was formed in Ohio in 1972 and was best known for their hit single “Whip It” in 1980. Members included two sets of brothers, Mark and Bob Mothersbaugh and Bob and Gerald Casale, along with Alan Myers, who died last year.
