NEW SHOREHAM, R.I. (AP) - Cape Air is launching seasonal daily service to Block Island with flights out of T.F. Green Airport.

Cape Air says service will begin on May 22. The regional airline says it will offer daily flights between the island and T.F. Green as well as Westchester County Airport in New York.

Cape Air will use nine-passenger twin-engine planes because of the island’s short runway.

Kelly Fredericks, president and CEO of the Rhode Island Airport Corp., says Block Island passengers will be able to access connecting flights on other carriers as well as commuter rail service to Providence and Boston.

He says he hopes the additional service is an indication of future growth.
