SANTA ROSA, Calif. (AP) - Police say a Northern California man who worked at a nonprofit that serves disabled people has been arrested for allegedly embezzling $400,000 from dozens of clients.

The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat (https://bit.ly/1cmkslL) reported that police arrested 66-year-old Larry Gene Sark on Monday on suspicion of fiduciary abuse of a dependent adult dating back to 2007.

Police began investigating Sark in September after receiving a tip about him possibly having an inappropriate relationship with a client of the nonprofit.

Police accuse Sark of depositing numerous checks belonging to 51 clients at the nonprofit into his personal bank accounts.

Sark is being held at the Sonoma County jail on $500,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

It is unclear if he has retained an attorney.
