PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island State Police say they’ve assisted nearly 40 stranded motorists across the state during the latest burst of winter weather.
The agency reports that it had responded to 23 accidents by mid-afternoon Tuesday.
The National Weather Service expects accumulation to be 3 to 5 inches in northwestern Rhode Island, 2 to 4 inches in the Providence area, 1 to 2 inches in Westerly and less than an inch in Newport.
Several municipalities including Cranston, Warwick and North Providence enacted parking bans. No school closings are reported in the state. This week is February vacation for many school districts.
T.F. Green Airport in Warwick reported some flight cancellations, and RIPTA was detouring some routes.
