AMES, Iowa (AP) - Police say they will not file charges against a man involved in a two-hour standoff in Ames.
Geoff Huff with the Ames Police Department says authorities are not anticipating any criminal charges in the case. He described it as “more of a mental health call than anything else.”
The man, whose identity will not be released, was located behind a restaurant Sunday night. His family had earlier contacted police and expressed concern about him.
The Des Moines Register reports (https://dmreg.co/1bGdwCi ) authorities evacuated the restaurant. The man later surrendered without incident and was taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation.
