NEW YORK (AP) - Be Bullish pulled a mild upset on Monday in the $100,000 Hollie Hughes Stakes as racing resumed at Aqueduct.
A heavy snowstorm in the New York area forced the cancellation of the Friday, Saturday and Sunday cards.
Be Bullish was coupled in the betting with sixth-place finisher Notmyfirstime as the 5-2 second choice. The oldest runner in field at 9, Be Bullish rallied in the stretch, beating 4-5 favorite Marriedtothemusic by 2¾ lengths for the 15th victory of a 75-race career. It was his second win in this stakes for New York breds, having captured the 2011 renewal.
The veteran gray gelding carried apprentice jockey Taylor Rice to her first stakes victory. The David Jacobson trainee ran the six furlongs in 1:12.05 on the track rated good.
Be Bullish paid $7.50, $2.80 and $2.10. Marriedtothemusic returned $2.60 and $2.10 while Mine Over Matter paid $2.20 to show.
