ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) - A 31-year-old Utah man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in connection with one of two slayings in a Nevada house last year.
Jeremiah Juber of Hurricane, Utah, admitted in court papers filed Jan. 31 that he killed 57-year-old Mark Parenti with help from co-defendant Ryan Wood at Wood’s home in Mesquite, Nev., in April 2013.
He awaits sentencing April 4 in Clark County District Court in Las Vegas.
Both Juber and Wood were arrested in April 2013 in the slayings of Parenti and 50-year-old Michael Eldredge, both of Mesquite.
Juber is accused of placing a plastic bag over Parenti’s head until he could no longer breathe.
The Spectrum of St. George reports (https://bit.ly/1oEvYye ) a district judge found Wood incompetent to participate in his own defense and ordered him sent to a Nevada state mental health facility for further evaluation.
