LEWES, Del. (AP) - The mayor of Lewes says he won’t seek re-election after leading the city for a decade.

Lewes Mayor James L. Ford III says he will not be a candidate in the local election in May.

Ford says he’s stepping down because of business and family reasons. According to his biography on the city’s website, Ford has been a Lewes resident since 1976 and owns a building contracting business that specializes in historic restoration.

Ford became the city’s mayor in 2004.
