OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say they are investigating a badly burned body found in Redwood Regional Park in the Oakland hills.
Oakland Fire and Police departments responded around 10:15 p.m. Saturday to a report of a body on fire in a parking lot connected to a park trail. The person was declared dead at the scene.
The Alameda County coroner’s office is working to identify the body, but the person’s gender is not obvious because of the burn damage. No arrests have been made.
Sgt. Dave Hall tells KTVU-TV (https://bit.ly/1jITWaP) the crime was in the East Bay Regional Park District’s jurisdiction, so park detectives are investigating the case.
The Skyline Boulevard entrance to Redwood Regional Park will be open to the public today as authorities probe the disturbing incident.
