METAIRIE, La. (AP) - A Kenner woman has been arrested on charges of stealing more than $133,000 from patients at a Metairie nursing home.

The Louisiana attorney general’s office says in a news release that 37-year-old Dina Maumus was booked into the Jefferson Parish jail this week with 24 counts of felony theft.

The attorney general’s office say an investigation began in April after a Medicaid recipient and patient at the nursing home filed a complaint of theft. The attorney general’s office did not identify the business.

Authorities say Maumus allegedly took checks written by patients or their relatives to the nursing home and cashed them for herself.

Authorities say Maumus also allegedly altered the patients’ records to reflect the accounts had been paid.

The incidents occurred between February 2010 and December 2011.
