DALLAS (AP) - Authorities say a man suspected of shooting and wounding a Dallas police officer has turned himself in.

Dallas police said in an email Saturday that Rakeem Perkins surrendered to police and was taken to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the leg.

Police say Officer Joshua Burns and is in stable condition and his injuries aren’t considered life-threatening.



Authorities say Burns was shot shortly after noon Saturday while responding to a disturbance call. They say Burns and another officer were approaching the 20-year-old Perkins in his vehicle when he shot Burns and escaped on foot.
