SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - One person has died and another has been injured when a car ran off the road and into a utility pole in eastern Tennessee.
WVLT-TV in Knoxville reported (https://bit.ly/NPN6Ds ) that the car driven by Tabatha Rogers of Sevierville went off the road in Sevier County at about 2:45 a.m. Saturday.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol says Rogers, who was in her mid-20s, died in the crash.
The report says Rogers was not wearing a seatbelt. However, Trooper Brian Lawson investigated the incident and reported his opinion that a seat belt would not have made a difference.
Troopers say a passenger in the car, 27-year-old Tara Yates of Seymour, was injured, but the extent of those injuries wasn’t immediately known.
