MUSTANG, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident on Interstate 80 just east of Sparks that caused westbound traffic to be rerouted for more than an hour during the morning commute.
Trooper Dan Lopez says the male driver of a blue Chevrolet S-10 pickup was killed after colliding with a semi-trailer truck near the Mustang exit about 7:45 a.m. Friday.
Lopez told the Reno Gazette-Journal (https://tinyurl.com/oovby3e) the trucks were traveling eastbound, but after the collision the pickup went over the guard rail and rolled several times on the westbound lanes.
The lanes reopened about 9 a.m.
Lopez says it’s not clear why the victim apparently lost control of his pickup before the crash.
