JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - The Alaska Senate on Friday passed a bill giving municipalities the option of prohibiting drivers from using cellphones in school zones and on school property.
The bill sponsored by Republican Sen. Kevin Meyer of Anchorage was approved on a 13-2 vote.
It allows municipalities the option of banning cellphone use by drivers in school zones or on school property.
The bill now goes to the House for consideration.
