SCITUATE, R.I. (AP) - Scituate officials say a woman died in a house fire while the rest of her family escaped to safety.
North Scituate Fire Chief Adam Hebert told WPRI-TV (https://bit.ly/1gpdYTX ) that the single-family home on Silk Lane was engulfed in flames when volunteer firefighters arrived at about 1 a.m. Wednesday.
Hebert says a woman became trapped in the home and couldn’t make it out. Her name hasn’t been released.
Hebert says it took about an hour to get the fire under control, but not before the house was destroyed.
Firefighters’ jobs were made more difficult by frigid temperatures.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
