SANDGATE, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say a 26-year-old woman has died after the car she was driving struck a telephone pole.

Police said Melissa Harris of Dorset was driving on a road in Sandgate at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday when she crossed the center line and struck the pole.

She was taken to a hospital with serious injuries and later died.
