HOUSTON (AP) - A judge has ordered that a juvenile remain jailed on charges that he participated in the slaying of a 15-year-old suburban Houston girl that prosecutors allege was part of a satanic ritual.
The 16-year-old boy made a brief court appearance Wednesday before a juvenile judge, who ruled the boy will remain in a juvenile detention facility. His next court appearance is Feb. 18.
Prosecutors allege the 16-year-old, whose name is not being released because of his age, and 17-year-old Jose E. Reyes sexually assaulted and then killed Corriann Cervantes in a vacant apartment on Feb. 5 in an effort to make a deal with the devil.
Brian Fischer, the 16-year-old’s attorney, said he couldn’t comment on the case.
Each boy is charged with capital murder. Reyes remains jailed without bond.
