NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Louisiana State Police are working to clear a major traffic accident on Interstate 20 at the Mississippi state line.

Authorities say an 18-wheeler skidded on the icy Mississippi River bridge and crashed into the railing. Four other tractor-trailer rigs, including a tanker, were involved in a chain-reaction crash.

The interstate bridge is closed in each direction.

Trooper Albert Paxton says the tanker is leaking a corrosive liquid which is flammable and its leaking into the river. He said hazmat crews are working to stop the leak.

Paxton says some of the drivers were injured, but he did not know their conditions.

The accident occurred around 4 a.m. Wednesday on the Louisiana side of the bridge which runs between Vicksburg, Miss., and Delta, La.
