SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - A northern Indiana prosecutor has been named a special prosecutor to investigate complaints that a South Bend Common Council member posted an obscene photo on Facebook.

A judge on Tuesday named Kosciusko County Prosecutor Daniel Hampton to handle the case against Henry Davis Jr.

Some South Bend residents filed complaints alleging Davis showed a lack of professionalism by posting an explicit photo of a naked man and a dog along with a link to a blog post entitled “America Legalizes Sex with Animals for Military.”

Davis held a news conference last week calling the posting a mistake and asking for forgiveness. He has deleted the posting.

St. Joseph County Prosecutor Michael Dvorak requested a special prosecutor because Davis is a former employee of his office and an elected official.
