LAS VEGAS (AP) - Sentencing was postponed in Las Vegas for an ex-convict from Utah who pleaded guilty to a firearm charge in a shootout that left a police officer injured last year in the resort city of Mesquite.

Daniel Wesley Runyon’s public defender, Melissa Navarro, asked Wednesday for time to check elements of a state presentencing report.

Runyon faces one to six years in prison at sentencing March 5.

Runyon and Mesquite police Officer Craig Empey were wounded in the shooting during a traffic stop last March 21.

A 48-year-old Utah woman who was with Runyon wasn’t wounded. Police later reported finding methamphetamine in their car.

The 41-year-old Runyon also spells his last name Runyan.

He lived in Richfield, Utah, and records show he’s served prison time in Nebraska, North Dakota and Utah.
