NEW YORK (AP) - A 19-year-old New York City woman has been charged in connection with the death of her 2-year-old son.
The medical examiner on Tuesday determined that Jayden Smith died of blunt force trauma to his abdomen.
Authorities say the toddler was vomiting and having difficulty breathing when emergency responders arrived at the Brooklyn home last Thursday. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The New York Times (https://nyti.ms/LU2xIQ ) says his mother, Geraldine Smith, was charged Tuesday with assault, child endangerment and assaulting a person under 7 years old.
The toddler’s twin was placed in the care of the Administration for Children’s Services.
Information about Smith’s attorney wasn’t immediately available.
