MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Musicians from more than 100 high schools in West Virginia and other states are auditioning for the chance to play in a weekend concert at West Virginia University.
WVU is hosting the 35th annual Invitational High School Honor Bands event at the Creative Arts Center on the Morgantown campus.
Students who are recommended by their high school band directors will audition Thursday evening and rehearse for two days before performing in a concert Saturday. About 375 students will participate.
Saturday’s concert is free and open to the public.
Guest conductors this year include the director of bands at the University of Oklahoma, Indiana State University and Ripley High School.
