SANDPOINT, Idaho (AP) - The Idaho Child Welfare Research & Training Center says more foster and adoptive parents are needed in Bonner and Boundary counties in northern Idaho.
Recruitment coordinator Julie Gardner tells the Bonner County Daily Bee (https://bit.ly/1kBNPW1) that it can be challenging finding enough foster homes in rural areas.
Kinderhaven in Sandpoint provides emergency care if a foster home isn’t available and if Kinderhaven has space.
Bonner County Magistrate Court Judge Debra Heise presides over child-protection cases.
She says the absence of foster families makes it more difficult for the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare to provide services for abused and neglected children.
