ROLLA, Mo. (AP) - The Missouri University of Science and Technology has received approval to add a doctoral program in explosives engineering.

The Rolla school said Tuesday that the decision was made by the state Coordinating Board for Higher Education.

Missouri S&T says it was the first U.S. university to offer undergraduate and post-graduate minors in the field in 2005. In 2010, the university added a master’s degree to its explosives engineering program.

Explosives engineers work in the mining, construction and demolition industries, among others.
