GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - A 31-year-old Gulfport man has pleaded guilty to charges of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and felon in possession of a weapon.
District Attorney Joel Smith tells The Sun Herald (https://bit.ly/1dHfc8I ) Julius Scott Turner was sentenced Tuesday as a habitual offender to serve 12 years in prison without the possibility of parole.
Turner was convicted of felony charges of receiving stolen property and robbery in 2002 and 2004 respectively, so was eligible to be prosecuted as a habitual offender.
Turner had been scheduled to go to trial Tuesday when he changed his plea to guilty.
