PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a man is in custody in connection with a crash on a Phoenix street that critically injured the other driver.
Phoenix police say 44-year-old Merino Carlo Lusterino was booked into jail Wednesday on suspicion of aggravated assault causing injury.
An off-duty police officer reported seeing a speeding car running a red light and slamming into another vehicle at an intersection early Tuesday.
Lusterino was arrested after he was released from a hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Police haven’t released the name of the 32-year-old man who remains in critical condition from the accident.
They say alcohol may have been a factor in the crash and investigators are awaiting the results of toxicology on Lusterino.
It’s unclear if Lusterino has a lawyer yet.
