SPRINGFIELD, Ga. (AP) - A woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for her role in the slaying and dismemberment of a coastal Georgia man.

The Savannah Morning News (https://bit.ly/1fZGZnz) reports Kimberly Moretz appeared in Effingham County Superior Court Wednesday and was also ordered to serve five years on probation.

Prosecutors have said Moretz helped hide the body of 35-year-old Charlie Ray in a South Carolina storage locker after her husband, Chad Moretz, killed him and dismembered his body with a power saw.

Sheriff’s deputies later killed Chad Moretz in a standoff at his home Jan. 11, 2013. They found Ray’s head and hands in the kitchen.

Kimberly Moretz’s attorney, Michael Schiavone (sheh-VONE-ee), has said she was a battered spouse who feared her husband would kill her if she talked.
