ABINGDON, Md. (AP) - Authorities say emergency crews have rescued a man who was suspended from a rope at a dam in Harford County.

Aberdeen Proving Ground officials say crews called to the Atkisson Dam near Abingdon on Wednesday morning found the man suspended from a rope on the spillway side of the dam, but he was alert and responsive. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Local fire officials tweeted that the man wasn’t injured, but needed care for cold exposure.

APG officials say the man was issued a citation for trespassing at the dam, which is federal property and was built to provide a reservoir for the base.
