FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - A convicted killer sentenced to California’s death row for a series of murders in the 1980s has died.
Wilbur Jennings, known as the “ditchbank killer,” was found guilty in 1986 of killing four women in Fresno County.
He was a suspect in at least 10 other homicides, including a 1981 rape and killing of a 17-year-old girl in Sacramento County, for which he was awaiting trial.
The Fresno Bee says (https://bit.ly/1iODiUq) the 73-year-old Jennings died Tuesday at a Sacramento hospital after a long battle with cancer.
Jennings had a long, violent criminal career beginning at age 21 and including mostly sex-oriented offenses.
