CLEVELAND, Ga. (AP) - Fire officials in north Georgia say two people were hospitalized when the kayak they were sledding in slammed in to a power pole.
Cleveland Fire Chief Ricky Pruitt says four people who appeared to be in their late teens and early 20s were inside the vessel when it crashed Wednesday afternoon and two refused treatment.
Pruitt says one of the victims may have suffered a broken leg and a deep laceration to their leg, and a woman who was knocked unconscious in the crash lost several teeth and suffered lacerations to her face and chest.
Pruitt says the two who were severely injured have been taken to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Cleveland is about 25 miles north of Gainesville.
