TULSA, Okla. (AP) - A jury has convicted a 21-year-old man of felony murder in the shooting deaths of a young couple at a Tulsa park.
Jurors on Monday convicted Darren Price in the 2011 deaths of 18-year-old Carissa Horton and 21-year-old Ethan Nichols. Prosecutors alleged that Price and another man, Jerard Davis, robbed and killed the pair as the couple was out for a walk.
Tulsa television station KOTV reports (https://bit.ly/1luwts6 ) that Price’s sentencing phase begins Tuesday. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
Horton was a student at Oral Roberts University while Nichols worked at the Blue Bell Creamery. The two were originally from Keokuk (KEE’-uh-kuk), Iowa.
Price’s attorneys argued that Davis shot both victims. Davis was sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty last fall to two counts of first-degree murder.
