LEVITTOWN, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a dispute between two men escalated to gunfire on Long Island. It prompted the lockdown of nearby schools as a precaution.
Inspector Kenneth Lack of the Nassau County Police says a landlord came to a house in Levittown Tuesday afternoon and a dispute erupted between him and the tenant.
Lack says the tenant chased the landlord out of the house and fired several shots from a rifle.
The shots shattered glass, which hit the landlord. A shot also hit a car, and the woman driving was also hit by glass. Both refused medical attention.
Lack says the man, 58-year-old Rohan Kahn, surrendered to authorities around 4:40 p.m.
A school administrator says four schools were placed on lockdown as a precaution. The lockdown had been lifted by early evening.
