BOISE, Idaho (AP) - A Romanian national who had been living in Idaho has lost her citizenship over immigration fraud.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 36-year-old Simona Rus was sentenced Monday to two years on probation for unlawful procurement of U.S. citizenship based on a fraudulent marriage she entered in 2003. U.S. District Judge Edward Lodge revoked her citizenship and cancelled her certificate of naturalization.

Rus pleaded guilty in November.

Rus was among a group of eight Romanians facing deportation for using fraudulent marriages to gain citizenship. She owned a cleaning business in Ketchum.
