GRETNA, La. (AP) - Two former Jefferson Transit buses have been reconfigured as mobile hospitals and can carry up to 21 patients at a time.
The Times-Picayune reports (https://bit.ly/NvObzSO ) the buses were donated to Jefferson’s two public hospitals by the Parish Council.
They have been rigged with 12 stretcher beds and other medical equipment to serve as mobile hospitals for events such as Mardi Gras.
They could also be used as mass-evacuation ambulances in the event of a disaster, or could evacuate patients ahead of hurricanes.
