LAKE VIEW, Iowa (AP) - A 73-year-old man in northwest Iowa faces charges following a standoff with authorities.

The Sac County Sheriff’s Office says James Verlyn Fertig, of Lake View, was arrested Monday following an hourlong standoff at his home.

Authorities were trying to serve Fertig warrants in connection to a separate incident Saturday. He is accused of calling a 911 center and threatening to shoot law enforcement near his property.

During the standoff Monday, Fertig refused to come out of his house. He later surrendered without incident.

Fertig faces a felony charge of terroristic threats in connection to Saturday’s incident. He also faces a felony charge of being a felon in possession of firearms. Court records do not list an attorney.
