BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (AP) - A Hancock County grand jury will decide whether to indict Edward Winnicki Jr. in the 2013 death of a homeless man.

A judge ordered the cause sent to a grand jury after a city court hearing this past week.

Winnicki, who also is homeless, is charged with murder in the death of David Bourgeois.

The 64-year-old Winnicki is held on a $1 million bond at the Hancock County jail pending court action.

Prosecutors say the body of the 58-year-old Bourgeois was found Dec. 25, 2013, in a small pink shack along U.S. Highway 90. Authorities believe Bourgeois had been dead several days.

Prosecutors say Bourgeois was stabbed more than a dozen times but died of asphyxiation from a 5-inch tube of foot cream found in his throat.
