SPARKS, Nev. (AP) - A $50 million renovation project is underway at John Ascuaga’s Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks.

CEO Carlton Greer told the Sparks City Council Monday some work will be completed this summer. The overall project will be done year, including a new sports book, bingo area and casino gambling pit on the first floor.

A western-themed Gilley’s Saloon, Dance Hall & Bar-B-Que is scheduled to open in June. A new sports bar, deli and VIP lounge with slots should be ready by August.



The Reno-Gazette-Journal reports (https://tinyurl.com/mnahja7 ) Greer told the council the new ownership is being of the Nugget’s traditions as a “cornerstone of entertainment” in the community.

John Ascuaga operated the casino from 1960 until he sold it in December to affiliates of Global Gaming & Hospitality and Husky Finance.
