WELCH, W.Va. (AP) - State police say a missing elderly McDowell County woman has been found dead in her car over a 30-foot embankment.
Senior Trooper B.D. Gillespie tells media outlets that searchers found the car on Sunday morning over an embankment off the side of the Welch Bypass. A body in the vehicle was identified as that of 85-year-old Haseltine Daniel of Iaeger (YAY’-gur).
Daniel was last seen leaving her home Friday afternoon.
Gillespie says Daniel’s car ran off the road, went down the embankment and landed on its roof. He says passing motorists couldn’t see the vehicle because of the steep terrain.
