ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) - The president of Muhlenberg College says he plans to retire next year, and the school will begin looking for his successor this spring.

The Express-Times of Easton said Saturday (https://bit.ly/1iZElDl ) that President Randy Helm saying in announcing the decision that he still has a lot he wanted to accomplish over the coming year and a half.

The 65-year-old history professor has spent more than a decade leading the Allentown college, a period that has seen the endowment nearly triple and applications increase.



Muhlenberg has built a science building, sports complex and residence halls during Helm’s tenure.
