SPRINGFIELD, Ga. (AP) - A historic theater in Springfield will get a $316,000 renovation.

The city council voted this week to permit the funding to finish the renovation by a scheduled April 25 opening date.

The Savannah Morning News (https://bit.ly/1fvbgMT ) reports the funding will pay for stage and communications lines and cinema, sound and light equipment.

City officials say the theater will show first-run and classic movies. It will also host concerts and plays.
