JENNINGS, La. (AP) - Lake Arthur Police Chief Cheryl Vincent says the body of a woman found in Lake Arthur has been identified as 27-year-old Lacie Fontenot.

Sheriff Ivy Woods tells The Advertiser (https://bit.ly/MKAGfz ) that the death does not appear related to eight killings in and around Jennings from 2005 through 2009.

KATC-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1nBv5pD ) that Fontenot’s body was found about 3 p.m. Friday in a shallow ditch across from the town’s water tower.

Vincent says investigators are waiting for the coroner’s report to get more details on how she died.

Police and the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office are investigating the death.

The earlier killings are believed to be the work of a serial killer. Eight women ranging in age from 17 to 29 were dumped in canals or along roadways.
