INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Police say two officers were injured at a downtown Indianapolis nightclub as they tried to stop a brawl involving about 80 club patrons.

The two Indianapolis police officers suffered punches to the face, a cut finger and other injuries during the early morning brawl, but neither was seriously injured.

The Indianapolis Star reports (https://indy.st/1jX0TVq ) the fight began about 2:45 a.m. Saturday in Club Hyde and led to the arrests of two Indianapolis men on suspicion of rioting.

A police report says someone released pepper spray during the brawl and one man yelled to the crowd that police couldn’t stop them all, while another urged them to “keep on fighting.”

Police were able to get the crowd under control and move them out of the club in about 15 minutes.
