The conservative advocacy group Heritage Action for America says it will “key vote” against an upcoming government funding bill unless it expressly prohibits President Obama from implementing his executive actions legalizing potentially millions of illegal immigrants in the country.
Heritage also says it will not give members a boost if they vote for a separate measure introduced by GOP Rep. Ted Yoho of Florida intended to block Mr. Obama’s actions, calling it “purely symbolic.”
The House could vote on Mr. Yoho’s bill Thursday, as Republicans weigh a two-step plan to pass a spending bill that would keep most of the government running through next fall and a separate measure funding homeland security through March, when they could revisit the immigration issue.
But some conservatives argue that approach is insufficient since it does not immediately withhold funding for the president’s amnesty.
