Russian jets flying over the Baltic Sea on last weekend had to be intercepted by Dutch F-16s after they refused to identify themselves.

Video footage of the encounter was released by the Dutch Ministry of Defense on Wednesday.

A translation of the incident provided by the NATO Atlantic Council website on Wednesday said that Russian Sukhoi SU-34 fighter-bombers ignored all requests to identify themselves and were promptly escorted to Russia’s Baltic Kaliningrad exclave.

“Russian military activity has been considerable during the last few months. Such activity can be destabilizing and potentially dangerous, if international norms are not respected,” NATO representative Oana Lungescu said, Public Broadcasting of Latvia reported Wednesday.
