PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia’s police commissioner says more businesses in the city should register their security cameras with his department to aid in crime fighting.
The Philadelphia Inquirer said Tuesday (https://bit.ly/1ryf6xk ) that more than 675 people have signed up with the SafeCam program in the past three years.
Commissioner Charles Ramsey says there’s a grant program to help business owners recoup some of what it costs to install a camera.
Police say 270 people have been arrested since 2011 through tips that came in after police posted video footage on the Internet.
