Texas Gov. Rick Perry will headline a event in South Carolina this week for a state lawmaker, as the Republican continues to test the waters for another presidential bid.
Mr. Perry is scheduled to take part in a fundraiser for Kirkman Finlay, a member of the South Carolina House, at Doc’s Barbecue & Southern Buffet in Columbia.
The event is billed a “pre-game luncheon” and will serve as a warm-up to the college football game between Mr. Perry’s alma mater, the Texas A&M Aggies, and the South Carolina Gamecocks.
On Friday and Saturday, Mr. Perry barnstormed through New Hampshire, which hosts the first-in-the-nation primary. Before that, he visited Iowa, which kicks off the nomination race. South Carolina is the third stop on the nomination calendar.
