FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - More than a hundred people gathered outside a Fort Wayne tobacco store for a vigil honoring its owner who was fatally shot during an armed robbery.
A priest led prayers and many people lit candles during the gathering Tuesday evening at the store where 44-year-old Antonio Lopez Nino was killed.
Family members and friends say Nino had four children and was generous with his customers.
Friend Patricia Overholt tells The Journal Gazette that Nino would bend over backward to help others and started with almost nothing when he decided to buy the store.
Jose Nino tells WANE-TV his half brother would have helped his attacker if he had needed assistance.
No arrests have been made in Monday’s shooting.
