STORRS, Conn. (AP) - The University of Connecticut women’s basketball team will be celebrating its ninth national championship with a victory lap and speeches at the Storrs campus.
The Huskies beat Notre Dame 79-58 in Nashville, Tenn., on Tuesday night, a day after the UConn men’s team won the national title. The women’s team is set to leave Nashville on a charter flight at about 12:45 p.m. Eastern Time and arrive at Bradley International Airport near Hartford at about 3 p.m.
UConn officials say there won’t be a public event at Bradley.
The team will return to Storrs and take a victory lap in an open-air, double-decker bus with the pep band and cheerleaders, and finish with a speaking program at the Fairfield Way Plaza.
