SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Police are investigating a fatal shooting in an apartment near Syracuse University’s South Campus.

Sgt. Tom Connellan tells local media outlets that Onondaga County 911 received a call for a shooting shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday at Clarendon Heights Apartments. Connellan says the unconscious victim, described as a man in his 40s, was discovered by someone who had come over to visit a friend.

The victim was pronounced dead at Upstate University Hospital. Connellan says police are working to identify him. He asked any witnesses or others with information to contact Syracuse police.
