BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) - State police have cited a school bus driver for tailgating after an accident on Route 8 in Bridgeport that sent 13 high school students to the hospital.

Troopers say 59-year-old Kevin Jones of Trumbull was driving a school bus that rear-ended a flower company truck Tuesday morning. The bus was carrying students from Bunnell High School in Stratford.

The Connecticut Post reports (https://bit.ly/1k2NutU ) that 13 students ages 14 to 17 were taken to a hospital for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries. Eight other students on the bus weren’t hurt.

Jones couldn’t be reached for comment Wednesday. A phone listing for him couldn’t be found and it’s not clear if he has a lawyer.

The driver of the flower company truck was cited for having an unregistered vehicle.
